Welcome to Conroe, Texas, one of the 15 fastest growing cities in the USA. Montgomery County. Many new residents are moving to this once quiet city and it is quickly claiming its place on the tourist block. There are a number of things to do in Conroe Texas, whether you are a local or a tourist.
1.Visit Lake Conroe: There are tons of things to do while at this 22,000 acre centerpiece of Conroe. From fishing to picnics, this is one of the most beautiful places to visit in this Texas city. You can enjoy some delicacies in any of the communities near the lake and enjoy tons of live performances.
2.Appreciate Art: If you are a lover of bronze art, then you should visit the Landfall Art Center which is open from midday to 7pm. If you want a private viewing, you can definitely arrange for that. You can also head to the Conroe Art league at Madeley Building to appreciate over 100 years of art.
3.Play some Golf: Conroe has its fair share of public and private courses where you can tee off in style. There are about 8 public and 3 private with various views of the lake and beautiful greenery. There are courses such as Woodforest Golf Club, The Links and the Forest Golf Club, just to name but a few.
4.Visit Conroe Museums: You can visit the Heritage Museum or the Lone Star Flag Park and Museum to take in your fair share of history. The flag park pays homage to the flags that have flown during battles over the centuries.
5.Visit a Brewery: If you want to see how some of your favorite beer brands end up in your local store, then the Southern Star Brewery is the place to visit. They have a number of popular brands and some special edition ones that you can appreciate while in Conroe. You can also visit the friendly B-52 Brewery for tours and a taste of some fresh brews.
6.Visit the Great Outdoors: If you want to appreciate nature, then one of the things to do in Conroe Texas is to visit the Sam Houston National Forest and W. Goodrich Jones State Forest. If you want to take a stroll on the nature trail, hike, have a picnic, go horseback riding and fishing, take a visit to these parks. They are usually open for day use.
7.Go Shopping: There are a number of districts that you can visit for some well-deserved retail therapy. You can visit downtown Conroe or downtown Montgomery. There are a number of stores, galleries, restaurants and even theatres to visit. There are a number of top brand name stores so it is not just cowboy hat stores that are found here.
8.Go to the Theatre: You cannot leave Conroe before you visit some theatres. There is the Crighton Theater and the Owen Theater where you can enjoy live shows, plays and some special shows, including Opera. These are located not far from shopping stores and restaurants.
